Hostel (Mini) Game

One more advantage of being a loyal hostelite.

About 2 days before this game, we were told to divide ourselves into groups of 5 (only 6 groups can participate; after all, most of us are home already). I didn’t register for this game (as I was too late to) but still, I participated in this game (as 1 group forfeited). My groupmates were Diga, Luccan, Javier, and Freddy (and Rohan, one of our tutors, if counted).

So, we were playing a simple game today. A board game “Express It – Guess It”.

A typical board game, there was a start point and a finish point. We had to reach the finish point from the start point (very common rule). The thing was, how to advance?

Okay, to progress, we needed to take a card which contained an adjective of expression, and then rolled 3 dices. The dice could only show 3 alternatives: charade, depict, or read.

  • Charade: we act the adjective out
  • Read: we read a phrase in the way like the adjective stated
  • Depict: we draw a face of the person based on the adjective

Each person would take turn doing it (each following person were from different group). If his/her adjective was able to be guessed, his/her team would advance depending on the number of groups guessing it. The group guessing right could also advance.

That’s the gist of it.

But then, I got a very, very bad adjective:

Silly

Aaaa! How to act it? How to act it? I really didn’t know how to. So I asked Bro. Paul for some advice.

He just told me to…

To what?

To scratch my body randomly like a “silly” person. All right, I couldn’t think of anything better, so I did it.

Guess what? 2 groups got it right, and another 3 groups answered “crazy”. Well, at least I’ve tried.

Then the next game was “around the hostel”. We were asked 13 questions about the hostel. I thought that these were the questions:

  • How many lamp posts are there in front of CJCH?
  • How many glass windows are there in CJCH’s Chapel?
  • How many exit doors (including emergency) are there in CJCH?
  • What is Bro. Paul’s middle name?
  • What is Auntie Sally’s family name?
  • What is Uncle Paul’s full name?
  • How many tutors are there in CJCH?
  • What number to press in order to make announcement in CJCH?
  • How many members are there in Hostel Committee?
  • How many hostelites are there in CJCH?
  • How many gates are there in CJCH?
  • How many cars can the backyard storage in CJCH store?
  • How many basketball courts are there in CJC?

There. I think that’s all. Some are stupid questions, but some are quite an easy one.

The third (and last) game was again, “Express It – Guess It” but this time, without board. Instead, we had to collect 25 points first in order to be the winner.

But the third game was stopped because of the supper time (yay!) So we headed to the dining hall for a little bit supper.

The supper was donut(s) (Donut Empire was the best!), Ferrero Rocher chocolate, and Lemon Barley drink. Then it was the results announcement.

My group was in 2nd position! The first position was group 5 which consisted of all JC1s (no wonder!) We got a medium Merci chocolate which each of us took three. The rest 5 were shared to the others who wanted.

Okay, so that’s the end of the Hostel (Mini) Game.
